                    PechaKucha Night Des Moines

PechaKucha Night was devised in Tokyo in February 2003 as an event for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public.  Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of conversation ("chit chat"), it rests on a presentation format that is based on a simple idea: 20 images x 20 seconds.

The first PechaKucha Night in Iowa was born in 2010 when two random strangers crossed paths in their desire to bring this to Des Moines. The first event was in September 2010 and it drew a full house.  Subsequent events have continued to build on this initial success.  Des Moines is proud to be the 341st city internationally to have joined the PechaKucha Night network.

Anyone can present - the key is to present something you love. Some people use PechaKucha Night to present their latest creative projects or work, share their passion, others share photos of their latest site visit to a construction site or their recent holiday snaps. We always recommend people go and see a PechaKucha Night before they apply to present to get a good feel of what it is all about.  Some are personal, some are funny, others are insightful, but all are very different making each PechaKucha Night like 'a box of chocolates'.
